Done!.... I think

I hate thumbnail sketches. Don't do them. So plowed right on in.... AND hated it. Repainted over mistakes with a wash. Kinda like how they still show through.

Here's what it looks like so far. I need to buy paint markers to write Marilyn Manson's name on the floor (bottom right corner) since it's his quote.

The sides are my favorite part.

Poor artists use Christmas tree plates in July for paint trays. Buy some art!

Youth Series- Part One

LinkHere is one of three in progress pieces. It is the third and last portrait of my 18 year old sister- and part of a series on Youth that I will be working on until my Art Show in October. I do hope that you are making note of this momentous occasion- get your calendars out. The date eludes me right now- so it's probably best you keep every weekend open to be on the safe side.

I stumbled upon a podcast called the Sound of Young America. It has succeeded in keeping this 27 year old relatively fresh- as she nears 28 at the end of the month- and then onto the looming 30.

Working with children, and having a teenage sister- puts that childhood metamorphosis front and center in my life each day. It fascinates me to consider the role that society plays in shaping the Youth of today- particularly the Teens on the "margins." That is the topic that this series will pursue- so if you know any willing Teen subjects for portraits- send them my way.

The Latest

Below you will find my little sister Emma. She is the subject for the series I am in the middle of right now: Youth

She is a talented photographer. Of course I'm just a tad biased. All three pieces originated from her photos. Since she is sufficiently embarrassed that 3 images of her face are posted all over my Myspace Page, Art Bistro and at my Studio Space- the next piece I do will originate from the photography of another Artist, Charlene Coleman

If you are a photographer, or know any photographers that have an eye for portraiture- send them my way.
